GENERAL INFORMATION
WHAT IS THE FSC?
FSC (Forest Stewardschip Council) is an organization non governmental,
international independent, and non-profit, founded in 1993 by the representative
of environment entities, explorers, forestry engineers, trader of forestry
products, indigenous communities, workers, industries and institutions
of 34 countries.
FSC has the aim of promoting the good forestry management, based on principles
and judgment established in a process of worldwide reference that lasted
three years. These principles insure that the management of the forests
is environmentally appropriated, socially beneficial and economically
practicable.
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FSC
Nowadays it is strongly established the principles of what is ecologically
adequate, socially beneficial and economically practicable. The use of
these principles began in some countries in Europe and spreading all
over the world.
Consequently the trade relations are altering, that is to say, besides
the principles that we follow when manufacturing a product, certified
FSC, we have the need of the certification to sell part of our products,
and in the future, we will not sell anything if we don not have 100%
of our product certified FSC.
CHARATERISTICS OF WOODEN GARDEN FURNITURE
Wood is a natural product and it is said to be alive.
When it is exposed to the weather, it is supposed to face weather variations
(sun, rain, dry or humid air, heat and cold) and invariably cracks
and other situations will take place. This is absolutely normal.
Our products are manufactured with the humidity of the wood at suitable
levels to keep the balance between the retractions, due to the sunny
and dry weather, and the expansions, due to the rain and humid air.
However, if this furniture is exposed to only one of the extreme climate
situations for a long period of time, there will be an imbalance in the
behavior of the wood. Considering the garden furniture models, the worst
situation is that of extreme dry weather with the burning action of the
sun. The visual depreciation, due to the retractions of the wood and
cracks will be bigger, besides provoking the loosening of screws and
warping by the width in wider boards.
In case of a long rainy season, there will be a disorder in the joint
of pieces whose fibers in opposite directions besides a possible difficulty
to articulate, if the piece of furniture is a foldaway one.
The wood can also get grayish with long-term bad weather.
It is very important, if it is applied a superficial protection, that
this one doesn’t prevent the wood from exchanging humidity with
the exterior. The use of paint and vanish will allow, with the passing
of time, the absorption of water. However, the loss of this humidity
is very slow, accelerating thus the action of the rottenness fungus.
EUCALYPTUS
The mechanical and physic characteristics, allied to the product project,
are adequate to its use in the manufacture of Garden Furniture.
The genetic care, the correct cultivation, the forestry management properly
done, the cut of the tree in the age planed, the sawing of the log in
a scheduled way and the drying of the wood with developed programmers
for that purpose give to Eucalyptus wood regularity, productivity and
quality not possible to the essences gathered in native forest.
This professional is added the concentration of the knowledge, because
it is only a species, thus have an excellent result.
POLISTEN
The Garden Furniture has its finishing in Polisten. This product is
found in the Brazilian market.
It gives to the wood a property of hydro-repellently, besides being a
fungicide and an insecticide, an extra life of 2 to 3 years, when exposed
to the out door, besides dining it and beautifying it.
The application of this product allows the continuation of moisture exchange
process.
MAINTENANCE AND CONSERVATION
After the visual evaluation of the finishing, we recommend the following
procedures: • Wash/to brush with water and neutral soap, or high
pressure washer;
• After completely dry, if needed, polish the wood lightly;
• Apply Polisten with a damp peace of cloth with the product;
• Next dry the surface with dry cloth.
• Finally, clean the surface with a hard sponge (Scoth Brite) for a better
touch. In case you are interested in having Garden Furniture with all the characteristics
and charm of old wood (grayish color), do not follow any of the procedures
of artificial conservation, only wash it.
It is recommended to fasten the screws (the possible) from time to time.
Alternatively to Polisten, it can put on some specific finishing oil
to the wood, for example, linseed oil, hard with a cloth damp. It is
recommended to dry the excess and even pulverize talcum just over the
oiled surface.
It is recommend to retract the furniture beyond the use season to a better
extra life.
HARDWARE
All the hardware of the Garden Furniture are in brass, or, plated zinced
steel electolictically, with a minimum layer 10 microns.
LIFESPAN OF WOODEN GARDEN FURNITURE
Wooden Garden Furniture lifetime is indefinite.
The weather conditions, to which this furniture will be exposed, as well
as the place, are a determining factor in the furniture lifetime.
Any wood used, even of the same type; has such differences that pieces
reacts differently from each other.
